On February 24, 2004, the UW-Madison Center for East Asian Studies sponsored a special guest lecture titled “Strengthening Indigenous Knowledge for Biodiversity Conservation, Livelihood Development and Social Changes in the Mountains of Southwest China.”

Dr. Xu is Professor/Deputy Head, Department of Plant Geography & Ethnobotany at the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, and the Executive Director, Center for Biodiversity and Indigenous Knowledge. His extensive C.V. is found here.
