The California Academy of Sciences is engaged in a long-term, large-scale survey of the biodiversity of the Gaoligongshan region of western Yunnan Province . CAS is working with the Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), and the Kunming Institute of Zoology and has resulted in the discovery of numerous species new to science and many new records for the region.
